20. William5 Triplett II (William4, Frances3, Frances2, Francis1) was born in Loudoun Co., VA November 15, 1763. William died January 1, 1850 in Russell Co., KY, at 86 years of age.

He married Nancy Ferguson in Wilkes Co., NC, February 17, 1785. Nancy was born in Virginia Sometime in 1766. Nancy died January 3, 1858 in Russell Co., KY. William moved with his parents from Orange Co., NC to Wilkes Co. where he married Nancy. He bought land on the South side of Beaver Creek and Gap Creek.

Daniel Boone was a good friend of the Triplett's and Ferguson's, and had built cabins nearby and left his family there when he went to explore Kentucky.

William and Nancy had 9 children, the first 5 being born in Wilkes Co., NC. They then moved to Adair Co., KY in 1804, where William paid $1,000 in gold for 200 acres of land on Greasy Creek. Two more children were born to them in Adair Co., KY. Records indicate that some slaves were brought with them from NC.

In 1832, William applied for a Revolutionary War pension, in which he stated that he had volunteered for service in the year 1782, but as his mother was a widow, and needed him at home, he gave Jeremiah Ferguson $40.00 to go in his place. Jeremiah later became his brother-in-law. Later that year he volunteered again and served 3 months under Captain John Kees. His pension was denied as at least 6 months of service was required for a pension.

When Russell Co., KY was formed from part of Adair Co., KY, his land then lay in Russell Co.
