Hunter Education Courses
   
Hunter education certification is not required for every hunter, but strongly encouraged. Hunter education courses are free 10-hour courses that cover firearm safety, hunting regulations, hunter responsibility and ethics, wildlife management, survival and other important topics. Courses are conducted statewide throughout the year. In addition to the 300+ other courses offered throughout the year, some classes have been scheduled in advance to help you plan ahead. These include, but are not limited to:

NORTHEAST
  • Aug. 23, Oct. 11, Nov. 15, Dec. 13, 2003 -- Jenks High School Auditorium, Jenks, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (pre-registration required, call (918) 299-2334).
SOUTHEAST
  • Aug. 23, Sept. 27, Oct. 11, Nov. 15, Dec. 13, 2003 -- Kiamichi Technology Center, McAlester, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (pre-registration required, call (918) 297-0150).
  • Dec. 13, 2003 -- Ponotoc Technology Center, Ada, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (pre-registration required, call (918) 297-0150).
NORTHWEST
  • Sept. 20, 2003 -- High Plains Technology Center, Woodward, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
SOUTHWEST
  • Sept. 20, 27, 2003 -- Great Plains Technology Center, Lawton, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (must attend on both dates; pre-registration required, call (405) 521-4636).
OKC AREA
  • Aug. 23, 2003 -- Norman Police Range, Norman, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (pre-registration required, call (405) 521-4636).
  • Oct. 11, Nov. 8, Nov. 21 2003 -- Omniplex Auditorium, Oklahoma City, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (pre-registration required, call (405) 521-4636).

Lost Your Hunter Education Card?
    If your hunter education card is lost or destroyed, you may print off a duplicate card by logging on to the Department's official website at www.wildlifedepartment.com for further details. A computer printout  of confirmation is valid proof of certification.
    Or you can send $5 and your name, address, date of birth, location of course by city and county, and the month and year you took the course to the ODWC at P.O. Box 53465, Oklahoma City OK 73152.

Reciprocal Agreement
    Hunter education certification is recognized and honored in all 50 states and provinces in Canada.

Youth Hunter Education Challenge

        If you're 18 or younger and have passed the Hunter Education Course, then you're ready to join us for some awesome fun!
        Practice your hunting skills while competing with others in the following:
  • Shooting shotguns, Rifles, Muzzleloaders and Bows

  • Identifying Various Wildlife

  • Using a Compass

  • Knowledge of Game Laws

  • Knowledge of Hunting
